Lady Trojans' win skein at four
ON THE RUN, R-P’s Jade Pelzl looks to speed past L-A defender Brook Schilling (31) in action from their game in Rushford Friday night. Giving chase in back is the Cardinals’ Danielle Harstad (33). Pelzl had 19 points, leading the Lady Trojans to a 57-48 win.

With four straight wins under their belts, Rushford-Peterson girls were hoping to keep their momentum going in the final week of the regular season.

The Lady Trojans (9-9 TRC, 13-10 overall) were scheduled at St. Charles the past Tuesday and home to Wabasha-Kellogg tonight (Thursday).

Last week, coach Matt Helgemoe's charges downed Plainview-Elgin-Millville 44-41 on the road and Lewiston-Altura 57-48 in Rushford.

R-P started its win skein by beating L-A 58-39 on the road and Mabel-Canton 63-42 at home.

R-P 57, L-A 48

The Lady Trojans, holding a slim 29-28 edge early in the second half, went on an 8-0 run for a 37-28 advantage and held off the Cardinals the rest of the way in Rushford Friday night.

Michelle Ruberg started the rally with two free throws, and Jade Pelzl swished a pair of three-point baskets to put R-P in command. L-A fought back to within 45-41 but couldn't get closer.

The Lady Trojans used long-range shooting to win, connecting on nine three-pointers. Kenzie Lind (14 points) had four threes, while Pelzl (19) tossed in three and Amy Todd (8) chipped in with two.

Brooke Schilling's 13 points paced the Card, who drew even with R-P at 20-20 at the half.

R-P 44, P-E-M 41

The Lady Trojans came back from an early 7-0 deficit, grabbed a 26-21 halftime edge, and went on to the three-point win over the Bulldogs in Elgin Thursday night.

Michelle Ruberg and Jade Pelzl each netted 12 points to lead the winners, and Emily Culhane added 11 for her personal season high.

Taylor Aakre's 10 markers topped the Bulldogs.

R-P led by as many as eight points (39-31) in the late going, but the Bulldogs refused to fold, closing to within three points on a 3-point basket near the finish.

By winning, the Lady Trojans improved their record to 8-9 in the conference and 12-10 overall. P-E-M fell to a 1-17 ledger in league and 2-20 mark overall.
